The Boerne Concert Band performed for the first time on Thursday, June 28, 2007. Larry Schmidt is the Band's Director and Conductor. Larry Schmidt, and trombonist, Don Edmondson, are co-founders of the Band. The first Boerne Concert Band was formed in 1884 under the Direction of Professor Hoepfenerter (also spelled Hoeffenstetter and Hophengaeter). Larry Schmidt started trumpet in the fifth grade, coached by his grandfather and uncle, Otto Zoeller. Larry first played with the Boerne Village Band in the seventh grade. Larry Schmidt, Kenneth Herbst (Director of the Boerne Village Band, and trumpet player in the Boerne Concert Band), and Don Edmondson are cousins. Larry's wife, Cheryl, daughter Kara and husband Jon Rickman all play instruments in the Band. Other families in the Band include grandparents Moddie and Evelyn Smith, their son, Steve and grandson, Brad; Amos Jones, son David and wife, Cheryl; Jennifer and John Tobler; Gary and Jay Joiner; Connie and Dalton Harbers; Susanne and Pat Authement; Susie and Dick Cranford; Dennis and Matthew Register; Marc and Hayden Lumley Layden.

History
The Boerne Concert Band made it's Boerne debut on Thursday, June 28, 2007 on Main Plaza. Director, Conductor Larry Schmidt and Trombonist Don Edmondson started gatering together musicians in late 2006 to form the band which plays popular music in concert for family audiences to enjoy. The variety includes big band, show tunes, patrotic, dixieland, semi-classical and happy music. The response has been exciting. Musicians from Boerne, New Braunfels, San Antonio, Canyon Lake, Spring Branch, Fredericksburg, Lyle, Fair Oaks Ranch and Blanco gathered together, increasing numbers for weekly rehearsals as word of this "outstanding enw band" spread throughout the Texas Hill Country music world. At present there are about 60 musicians in the band, and it is still growing. read more > Organization
